Nice little tool
I picked this up for two reasons - my grandson REALLY needs to neaten up his writing, and I want to to better at writing left handed. That boy must think he is going to be a doctor, because his writing is just as illegible. Good grief. Now he has to practice with this board, then write freehand, before he can take out something to play with. Fingers crossed that it works to build muscle memory and he gets better over time.I have always been able to write with both hands, but not particularly well. So this is helping me move along in smother lines. Not quite ambidextrous, but better. The board is sturdy, I just wish there was a way to attach the stylus so it isn't so easy to lose track of. We have a micro drill, so I may try putting a hole in the end of it, and the edge of the board to tie them together.

I should have known better.
I wish I had picked a higher quality board. The letters are very shallow so that the pencil easily loses the groove and is discouraging to my child. He doesn't really care for it. Now I am torn whether I should buy another one to replace this cheap thing I have. I also really like the idea of the pencil being attached to the board. You really do get what you pay for. Oops.

Great craftsmanship!
This is perfect for small children learning to write! No worries about them writing on anything because its a wood pencil with no graphite in it and the indents are perfect. It deep enough to help teach kids the movement to write and its harder for them to not keep in the groove then it is to accidently go out of it.It a no mess way to start writing traning and even fun for the older kids that know how to write to help them practice.

Really useful and well designed (with one caveat):
This double-sided makes great sense for space efficiency. The grooves are smooth, making it easy for the wooden stylus to guide through tracing of the letters, numbers and shapes. It has numbers showing a suggested order of strokes to for each letter, number, and shape which is helpful when a child is using this independently. It would have been nice if the stylus was attached somehow or had a better insert design, to keep it in place while stored. In just a few weeks of use we have already misplaced the stylus (update: found it under the couch). It would definitely hold up in a classroom environment. I highly recommend this for any parent or teacher with a child who is learning how to write.

Well made board, makes practicing fun!
I ordered this tracing board for a kingergarten class. At the beginning of the school year, many of my students are learning the alphabet and numbers. Rather than using paper to trace, this set uses grooved board and a wooden stylus to do the tracing - I think this provides a really nice tactile feel to the process. The board also has directional arrows to show the kids the best way to write these. As an added bonus, this board has shapes on the side with the numbers. This is a fun independent activity, the board and stylus are well-made, and there is no odor. However, I took off a star because some of the letters (lower case a, l, q, t and y) and numbers (4 and 9) aren't the way we teach them. However, this does open the disucssion about how letters and numbers arent' always the way we write them.

Love this item
I got this for my 4 year old son. I currently homeschool my kids and was looking for something they could use without leaving pens or pencils out.I am so glad I chose to get this item. It was well made and very solid. I am able to easily fit this in a desk or backpack. The wooden tracing stick included works very well and the area to trace is well made and smooth.
