Octozin: a great medication to own especially if you keep Discus and / or marine fish
Octozin is a very effective medication especially for treating 'hole in the head' disease affecting Discus (freshwater) and other fish species and usually said to be caused by the flagellate protozoan parasite, Hexamita. Octozin is also effective against a wide range of other protozoan parasites such as Spironucleus, Cryptobia, Bodomonas, Trypanoplasma and Trypanosoma. In marine aquaria it can be used to treat the disease conditions known as 'Angel fish disease' and 'Clownfish disease'.It is also effective in marine aquaria against marine 'whitespot' where fish and marine invertebrates are being kept together and so copper-based medications cannot be used. However, for it to be really effective, the salt water in the aquarium has to be reduced gradually in concentration down to 1.017 in specific gravity ideally before the Octozin medication is added, and kept at this specific gravity for two to three weeks whilst the medication takes effect. Also, it does not say if the standard three day course of the Octozin is to be repeated at some stage during this two to three week period of low salt concentration. The specific gravity must be brought back up slowly by adding sea salt once the course of treatment is finished.Personally, I have found Octozin to be very effective at treating 'hole in the head' disease in Discus (freshwater).

Really works
My parrot cichlid had white bumps on the head that turned into a concave crater. I was expecting the worst, but a couple of doses of this treatment cleared things up completely - 2 years later and my parrot is still going strong.Does turn water cloudy, but didn't appear to harm other fish. I did remove all snails from the tank prior to dosing (as per instructions), and didn't lose any other fish. Definitely saved my fish, so 5 star.

Hope It Does The Trick
I was surprised to see the tablets are the size of a paracetamol and for a tank of 40 gallons I dosed 8 tablets per day over three days. I believe the tablets are working for hole in the head on my uara chiclid . The uara is excreting a lot of mucus and the water is very misty due to the tablets. My discus are not affected with hole in the head and do not seem troubled by the medication.

Unsure
I keep alot of large discus fish and a few hve darkened with some showing signs of parasites. As I'm in the UK can't get what everyone recommends in the states, so after reading forums I took a shot with this. To be honest I think it marginally helped a few, but nothing more than other less toxic medicines I've used before
