Yes, USB charger works fine in Europe
I’m writing this review just to counter another review claiming that the USB charger for Oral-B toothbrush damaged their oral-B toothbrush when using in Europe where they have 220-240V supply rather than 120V as in the US. To be clear, this is not the case. This charging base will work fine and has worked fine. Whatever USB adapter or hub you use that you plug this into will supply the USB standard 5V no matter where you use it because your USB adapter or hub will step down the AC voltage to DC 5V. If your USB adapter or hub didn’t do that it would damage any USB-charged device.I’m guessing that either the listing must have changed and was previously for a 120V AC charging base (not USB) or the reviewer got mixed up and chose the wrong product to review.Anyway, the product works fine but be aware that our Oral-B/Braun toothbrushes take a very long time to charge, particularly after using it several times without charging. Looking it up I see that it can be as long as 18 hours with the provided 120V AC charger, not merely overnight. I’m not sure if this USB charging base is slower or not but it does work and it’s more convenient since you can plug it into your multi-port USB travel charger rather than having to bring along an extra plug adapter (and perhaps a voltage charger if it’s true that the provided 120V charger doesn’t work with 240V.)
