Its not romanized.
I wish they would romanize the phrases, making it easier for us learners to pronounce the words.

Basic but useful.
This is a basic but useful book. You must know Hiragana and Katakana to be able to read this. If you are looking primarily for reading kanji, I cannot recommend this book. The furigana over the kanji is fine for the reading but because the kanji are in bold, some of the strokes are not sharp enough to read effectively. The cover and paper are not the best quality but for the price, this is a good book to have on your shelf as long as you do not mind reading furigana.

A good book that could be better for beginners with a small amount of effort.
A good book which could have been great. A missed opportunity. One of the oddities of this book is they include a hiragana chart at the front, but not a katakana chart. This strikes me as an extremely odd omission for the sake of a page or altering the hiragana chart slightly. The other, somewhat related is they translate kanji to hiragana in small font above each sentence, but do not take the same afforded space to similarly link katagana to their hiragana counterparts.Had they included romaji on an additional line, this would have broadened the range of people this book would be useful to, and while it would tamp up size and cost of the physical volume, it is definitely something they should do for the e version.I don't regret the purchase, but if you can instantly see how it can be done better it is hard not to be disappointed that it is not.
