VAN HALEN S VERY EARLIEST LIVE BROADCAST RECORDINGS Formed in Pasadena, CA in 1972, between 1974 and 1985 Van Halen had a consistent lineup featuring lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen, vocalist David Lee Roth, drummer Alex Van Halen, and bassist Michael Anthony. Van Halen, of course, became a major rock act, and by the early 1980s they were one of the most successful bands ever. 1984, released on Warner Bros on 9th January that year, was their most successful album, with its lead single Jump becoming an international hit which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. But Halen weren t always such a successful collective of musicians. Indeed, their roots were humble, and for the first six years of their existence they remained release-free, a situation that was only redressed in 1978 upon the issuing of their self-titled debut. The three shows featured on this fascinating CD come from this era, when the group was still playing the clubs and high schools of LA. Recorded for FM broadcast at The Golden West Ballroom and The Starwood Club in 1976, and including too a couple of numbers from La Cañada High School in November 1975, these rare recordings, released here for the first time, will undoubtedly take pride of place in every decent Halen collection across the world.

First Jump
First JumpbyRob JonesVan Halen formed in Pasadena, California in 1972. 1974 - 1985 witnessed the existence of the classic line up featuring lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen, vocalist David Lee Roth, drummer Alex Van Halen and bassist Michael Anthony. By the 80's Van Halen became one of the major global players on the rock scene. However, in 1975/76 Van Halen was still learning their trade and even though overwhelming success was not apparent it was quite clear that there was something special brewing. The 2017 release of work from that era shows a spirit that was soon to capture a far bigger audience. Musical skills were evident and one of the great frontmen of rock was on the verge of coming to the fore.In the Club is a 73 minute, 17 track CD on Smokin' Records - and, it is an important part of the V.H. jigsaw when one considers that their self-titled debut album did not appear until 1978. There are a trio of gigs present on this remarkable recording as the group did the hard yards playing wherever they could. The quartet are attempting to develop their own style while paying homage to heroes and icons such as John Brim, Eddie Cochran, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, ZZ Top, Rainbow and Bad Company. The tunes were recorded for FM broadcast in a 1976 California at The Golden West Ballroom (7 songs) and The Starwood Club (6), and from the same area in 1975 via La Cañada High School (4).These are rare recordings on offer to the Van Halen aficionados and this merchandise offers a true reflection of both an era and what was happening to a band that would Jump from anonymity to fame and fortune in several years. However, without the hard work displayed here the rise to fame would not have been possible. These young Hell Raisers prove that even in those nascent years
