yessssss, this works (but read the review)
Ok, I have been trying to get decent static grass on a diorama forever. I have used the static king up until know, sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not. A lot of people liked this unit, so I said why not try it. It worked perfectly with the static grass that came with it. It worked OK with Woodland Scenic's grass. I have come to the conclusion that the grass is just as important as the applicator. The problem with the grass that comes with this kit is the color and sheen. But, since the grass is 95% standing up, I dont care! I will airbrush where needed, or maybe mix a little of my other grass with it.A tip I have found is to spread glue for static grass, and then spritz with water and a smidge IPA. This allows the charge to distribute more, and you get better results.I have not tried 7mm or larger in this, but i suspect it will work as well, just be a little slower to deposit. Besides, I like the pinch and stab method for the larger grass, as I think that makes it look much more realistic. Here is a pic of a work in progress. the grass in front of the fence is from this kit. its perfect.

Static grass
I bought this item to do a little static grass on a diarama. When I first got it, sitting on the couch, I pushed the button and I guess the ground wire was on my leg, it shocked the hell out of me. I actually threw it to the floor, unmeaningly. But it works great for static grass. JUST BE CAREFUL

Works as expected. Any adult should read the safety warnings prior to buying and leaving reviews.
First off it does exactly what it is intended to do in terms of making custom tufts and landscaping dioramas and train layouts.Second, one of the negative reviews caught my eye and all I have to say is that it clearly states the following in the product descriptions so as educated adults it should be a no-brainer to look and make sure anything you buy intended for kids, is actually intended for kids. Something electronic with an exposed lead? Pretty sure the picture shows this is not for young children. The product information shows this static grass flocking applicator is recommended for ages 15 and up. The grass fibers are small and could pose a choking hazard for younger children. I would suggest consulting with a pediatrician about whether this product is appropriate for a child under 15 based on their developmental stage and ability to use it safely under supervision. Let me know if you need any clarification or have additional questions!

Awesome!
Works well. Easy to use. Build quality isn’t too bad either. Doesn’t feel too durable and seems like it could easily break but I think you’d really need to have an intention to break it for it to fall apart! Make sure you read the instructions for safety! I’d recommend this for sure!

Tall grass
The grass blades are a bit tall and the colors are little too fake (neon) looking. Not bad if it you can mash it all together with the right scenery, but the realism is lacking.

DANGEROUS DON’T BUY FOR KIDS
This product actually works well for the money, however it lacks safety features and adequate amount of warnings. I got this product a couple of days ago. I read and followed all of the instructions and it worked great for what I wanted. Yesterday, I pulled it out to show my husband how it works and received a shock equivalent to grabbing an electrified fence just reaching into the box. This machine holds an electric charge until you diffuse it by touching the grounding wire to the mesh. It has a push button on/off switch. My conclusion is that I somehow turned it on putting it back into the box and when I grabbed it again it was charged. The warning is halfway down the page on the instructions and there is a white warning sticker on the machine. However neither warn of the potential danger of this product being accidentally turned on when not in use or the severity of the potential shock. This product needs to be handled with respect and there needs to much more prevalent warnings on this product. And you should never put it away with the batteries left in it.
