Wonderful, bright calendula
I use calendula petals in three forms;1: cleansing tea, I find it wonderful if you are detoxing2: I make my own calendula oil, it's rather easy and far less expensive and you can choose your own oil base, I included the recipe below.3: Dying yarn and fabric. There are oodles of videos on the interweb to get you started if you fancy trying it, my tip for begginers us start with cotton yarn or fabric, it is the fibre that loves calendula the most, and don't forget to set the dyed work. This is my first time buying this brand, and I was pleasantly surprised. It arrives as a large pouch, craft paper outside with a ziplock allowing you to keep it fresh, foil inside again for freshness. The petals are full of colour and flavour.Calendula petals can go stale, the less fresh they are the paler and duller the colour, the less intense the flavour untill it tastes like straw, so do keep an eye on your stash, I found out the yard way many years ago, a different brand, I simply folded the bag over and pegged it, which was a terrible idea. This brand has a stay fresh ziplock at the top to keep your leaves fresh, and the bag is not see through so no bleaching of the leaves from daylight either.Did you know, calendula oil is not made by extracting or distilling part if the calendula plant like say sunflower oil.No, Calendula oil is simply an extraction of the healing properties of the calendula flower petals by chopping them up and steeping in oil for a few months....Sterilise all your equipment, including but not limited to the blender blades, funnel, dark bottle and lid.Pop the petals in with an oil of your choosing ( I prefer jojoba or sweet almond oil, other oils regularly used in shop bought calendar oil are olive oil or sunflower oil however be warned, I find sunflower oil calendula oil makes you and your clothes reek like a chip shop and that smell lasts for several washes, that is why I avoid using it for this purpose),one pouch makes up to 2.5 litres, so a little goes a long way.Blend well and using a funnel pour everything into a sterilised bottle to the top ( a sterilised cork is great, as you know when the air is out as a little oil dribbles post the cork) do your best to exclude any air from the bottle as we don't wish the petals to rot.Use a wide mouth bottle because you are pouring the petals in too, and use either a dark bottle ( amber is standard but blue is good too), or cover the bottle completely to exclude any light.Leave at room temp for 3-12 months, your choice, a little friendly swish of the bottle helps redistribute the petals in the oil, helping to ensure a good even extraction into the oil.( For example; I have a yummy tumeric hot chocolate once a week and whilst the oat milk is warming I give all my bottles, including calendula, but also home made vanilla extract amongst others, a hello and a swish)Filter into a sterilised bottle or bottles, and voila, your very own calendula oil,it should be golden orange to deep orange, depending on how long you allowed it to steep. Calendula oil is said to have skin healing properties, I use it in my homemade night face cream, just as an example. It does not make you go orange, just in case you wondered, it soaks in, no orange skin.I hope this gives you an idea on how to use these lovely calendula petals.

25g of petals
Ordered 50g of petals, got 25g. The rest is 23g of heads and 4g of seeds. Segregated to plant the seeds and give the heads to gerbils. Still, £4.99 for 25g of petals is a bit too much, hence the 3 stars. The petals however are clean, have lovely color to them.

Not as expected
I bought this to make Dukkah, and based on the product photo was expecting petals rather than flower heads. A large percentage of the bag was flower heads that I had to remove the petals from. Just be aware depending on what you want to use them for. Apart from that, the quality is good.
