KEENWomen's Targhee II Low Height Waterproof Hiking Shoe
~**~
Comparable to the Keen Voyageur....
I've had great comfort with the Voyageur and bought the Targhee 2 to replace an old Voyageur pair which has worn out completely after years of use. These two shoes seem to share the same shoe fast and are built on the same platform. There is plenty of toe box room for me, the back is a bit elevated to help with high arches and the fit is smooth and comfortable all around. They seem to be basically the same shoe.I wear a size 9 in most Keen shoes and boots but when it comes to the Voyageur and the Targhee 2, I need to go up 1/2 size for the perfect fit. For me they run a little too short. I also use a Birkenstock Blue insole for very high arches which completes the overall fit. In the summertime, I wear thin silk socks which makes them just a hair too big (but my feet swell more in the summer making the fit perfect) and for the other months of the year I wear normal thicker socks which work perfectly without being too tight. The Multi color, which is a very deep dark brown and the aqua contrast is really striking and they are a fabulously good looking pair of walking/hiking shoes which get lots of compliments. I really love them.Just a reminder too, is that when your old Keens start to get holes in the bottom from so much use, just keep them and use them as water/river shoes. They are still sturdy enough for this use and to keep your feet supported and covered in the rocky streams and rivers.

lots of room/all that they claim to be
I've purchased and returned at least 15 pair of hiking boots and shoes. These are awesome! Lots of room w/o ordering a wide. (they were too wide). Hold up well, feet don't hurt. Walked thru snow and puddles and feet stayed dry. I did replace the insole because my foot tended to slide. Only improvement would be a hook near the ankle so the laces would stay tight. Will def buy again!

Awesome for hiking on Lava fields
Love that they are wide fit. We do a good amount of hiking in Hawaii, on old lava flows, and these are great on the uneven ground. Laces are a bit long, but better to be too long than not long enough. Very comfortable, even after hours of hiking.

Tread is wimpy, but an otherwise great shoe
I have worn Keens for 10+ years, and the comfort is superior for being such a rugged, truly waterproof, well-made shoe. EXCEPT for one annoying attribute unique to Keen hiking-style shoes. These are almost two years old but really only worn when I’m working outside in the warmer months… my husband wears Keen Targhee II’s exclusively and experiences the same issue - The tread falls off! And mine only made it a year and a half before this began, and I’m a small woman, I’m not just blowing them out with use. So here I sit with Shoe-Goo trying to glue them back together. For the price I’d like them to hold up longer than that. Their boots don’t have this issue, I wish they could come up with a different design that held them together longer.PROS: These are the most comfortable, rugged shoe, and my unique praise is that they are great for those of us with wide feet!!! And the sizing I find to be consistent and accurate. I have the hardest time with having a wide enough toe box and Keen has nailed it. Every other part of the shoe has held up great. They’re still very comfortable, so I’m going to try to salvage them.

My 13th or 14th pair of Keens in 10 years.
These shoes are excellent for: hiking, trail walking, every day errands, work, leisure, dashing to the car in the rain, snow, and mud. I really like the large toe box. The shoes are comfortable and not too wide. They tend to run a half size small in my experience. I have three pair of Keen sandals, as well as, the variety of Targhees that I've owned. I tend to buy a new pair about every 18 months and then demote the current pair to yard work and "poo-patrol" when picking up after my Yorkies. I love the fact that these are water repelant to water proof. Be sure to read the specs as Keen offers shoes in both models. My preference is the low cut shoe over the ankle height. Just feels better for me. I have experienced ZERO break-in time for this brand of shoe. The color selections are muted and very similar to each other. Get over it...I have yet to see Keen offer a bright blue or red Targhee. (Although that'd be cool. I'm totally all about blue.) The soles of the shoes take a long time to wear as they are made of Vibram. Great stuff. The foot bed is removeable and there is plenty of room for orthodics if you wear them. I have worn out the foot beds and just replaced them with after market variety. The laces are really long so you may either have to cut them down or double-bow tie them. Just something I've noticed over the years. Unless your mom is a totally hip kind of woman, she may not like the look of these shoes, as the toe bumper is quite prominent. My mom thinks these are hideous. Well, if she'd only try a pair and not look at her feet, I think she'd be hooked on the great comfort, weather resilientancy, and did I mention comfort? Give Keens a try. I hope you like them. I sure do.

Friend Recommended
I asked a friend who does a great deal of hiking what brand of shoe she and her friends prefer. Without hesitation "Keen Targhee" was her answer. Not only for the quality of workmanship, support, but comfort right out of the box. They hold up well also.I took her advice and ordered a high top pair. She was correct! All of the above was true. I liked them so well I ordered this (low height ) pair. I love these also! They are so comfortable I not only use them for hiking but everyday use. I ordered my normal size; they fit perfectly!

This may be my last pair of Keen hikers
I cannot speak to the longevity of the hikers as I just started wearing them. The length is correct. The toe box is roomy. However, the heel is not snug, particularly on the left shoe. It’s very annoying on short walks. On longer Hikes the slippage would become an issue. I’ve added heavier, Smartwool socks, and they have not made much of a difference. I’ve also purchased some heel liners, which might improve the fit. But I should not have had to spend additional dollars on liners. Additionally, I do not like the shoelaces, and will probably have to replace them in time. Between the shoelaces and the heavily padded tongue, it is hard to get the shoe snug. This is the first Keens hiker that has disappointed me.

Always the best choice
As always, Keen targhees are unbeatable in durability and comfort. I walk a lot for work and these last and never disappoint. I think it’s the 5 or 6th pair that I have reordered. They’re super wide and comfy.

Amo Keen

Well made shoe and waterproof
This is my third pair and I love them! The sizing worked ok for me, but as another purchaser noted, they are a little loose in the heel. Wearing a thicker sock helps and I will get some heel grippers.
