Excellent product
This item worked perfectly and saved me the trouble of running new wires in my home because I was able to detect existing wires.

What a time saver and easy to use!
The media could not be loaded. Wow, this network cable tester and tracker exceeded my expectations, and here is why. This product includes a carry pouch, a user manual, and some network cables. It consists of a wire tracker receiver that requires a 9-volt battery not included and a wire tracker that requires a 9-volt battery. It works by connecting a cable to the tracker and using the receiver at the cable opposite end to confirm the line.I needed to track a cable from my outside work area that runs underground to my basement. So I connected the tracker and headed to my basement.I recently moved to this home with dozens of preinstalled network cables and used the receiver to check them all. I like how simple it was to use, and it eventually located the line. I was able to identify it and label it for further use.Overall, this is a fantastic tool that works as described. I didn't expect it to be this easy to locate a cable among many. What a time saver! It is well worth the price and I highly recommend it. Therefore I rate this product five out of five stars.

OMG it actually works!
I'll be honest for the price I wasn't expecting much. But this Network Toner actually works! It was smashed up really good during shipping and was not packed in anything but its own box. Somehow it still works!! I'm using it to track down cat5e and cat6 network cables. The tone is loud and clear, it has two options the usual bee-doop or a solid beeep. The buttons feel all right and the volume adjust knob is adequate. THe on/off switch for the built-in light feels cheap. The Led light itself is not very bright I would not suggest you rely on this to provide light. Cable test functions as expected. Maybe I didn't read good enough but this comes with a really super carrying case, alligator clips for testing bare wires, and even two cable strippers. Overall the value of this kit is amazing! I'm a sucker for this orange color as well, it matches my Fiber cable tester and my Ridgid toolbox very nicely. I'm the envy of the other guys at work due to my matching color scheme.I took one star off because of the packing, I think the test-off-scan switch on the emitter was damaged during shipping, or it's really poor quality when in the scan position, it does not work you have to push it back slightly towards off, so kind of in between the detent positions for scan and off, it's janky, but once you know, it's workable. Additionally, the LED light is mostly a gimmick, and the plastic casing feels super cheap, but it's good enough. I would have preferred a different type of battery as this takes 2x 9V one in the probe, and one in the emitter.

Amazon packer... tsk tsk
Good purchase for $24 dollars. Bought a new house and had to trace some cable from already installed ethernet jacks in the rooms. Plugged the tester in the jack, went into the attic to start probing for the right cable, got a good loud tone on the first cable I checked. Tried another jack, for the phone this time, took a little searching but got a good tone on the right one, not as loud as the first, but positive ID. Definitely worth it. Feels cheap, but works well.Shame on Amazon though, shipping label was just slapped on the product box and the ends weren't even taped shut. The delivery driver could have opened it up, used it and placed back in the box, and I never would have known. No star removed because it wasn't the manufacturers fault... good product.

Well....I lost a 80 dollar toner recently and this thing is a worthy replacement!?!
I lost a 80+ dollar toner, so got this just hoping to tone single cat 5's at a time, this thing is so good I can find tone in 300+ ft wiring on the other end of commercial building, tone both a cat 5 and a coax wire at the same time, since both the rj11 alligator clips (attached to a coax) and a ethernet port "tester" can send tone at same time, hence saving me valuable time finding where everything goes. Also this thing does not auto power off.....SWEEEEET!!! I have been working at jobs for hours, forgot my toner was over here, came back and still toning loudly. Excellent product, definitely cheap, and you need to be delicate with it, especially the alligator clips, the solder broke free from the rj11 chord, I "re-soldered" with a cigarette lighter in my pocket. So like I said, excellent product for the money, as far as toning out wires, never used the cat 5 pin test yet, but supposedly that is something too.

Tracer does not work
It came with short network cable RJ45 and phone cable RJ11 as well as headphone to hear the tracer's noise in a black bag that can be attached to belt to carry around. Wire test part worked fine and a tried many broken and correct network wires and the tester section was fine. But the tracer worked once only! I needed to trace the port back to data closet so I know which port on which switch I connected it but I could not. Return to get another model.

Cheap but useful
I have gone through 4 or 5 of these toners personally now, and several coworkers have had a few. The number one problem I run into with then is the LEDs going out, we've had 2 or 3 become useless after that. I've had 1 catch on fire while I was testing a cable, they have a warranty for stuff like that so I was able to get a refund, and that was a one off instance, have not heard of it ever happening before or since. I lost my last one by dropping it down a conduit that went 2 floors down, if I would've found it I wouldn't have been surprised if it still worked, these things can take a beating. The $300 toners you can buy do the exact same thing this does, don't waste your money on an expensive tool when something like this will do the same function for a fraction of the cost.
