Well made with nice features.
I read the directions, used a screw driver to blow out the air via the filling hole, filled it with butane, and it started right up. Make sure that the flame setting is about in the middle range. The appearance of the lighter is quite nice and I am impressed with the quality of this well-made device. The flame is impressive. Accordingly, I filled it and lighted it outdoors for my first try, just to be safe. The price is right and good bye to the cheap, throw away lighters with this sturdy device that delivers a great, dependable flame! There was no problem with leaking or filling. There is always a little splashing when filling any butane lighter.

My regular cigarette lighter
This still hasn't quit on me as many "refillable torch lighters" often do The ignition is still going strong. Definitely a quality product, it's a decent size but still not too cumbersome yet much less likely to be accidentally or unknowingly pocketed like a disposable.

Like a mini light saber!
This thing is great! My son wanted it (he's 9) and has managed to not break it even though he has carried it like a light saber for the last few months. It does have a well made safety lock on the trigger. I took it over when winter come along as it is perfect for lighting the wood stove. It is dangerous though and not a toy. So if your kid is asking for it better make sure he is responsible even for something like this. Flame is six to eight inches on high. Butane last longer than you would expect. It will blast right through thin (coke can) aluminum. Great gift for anyone that starts campfires or backyard fire pits.

Good, but...
I was looking for a lighter for starting a charcoal chimney and came across this model. It checked all the boxes and then some (I don't normally have a need to melt aluminum cans, but you never know, right?). The lighter came in a fairly nice box, but that's it. There were no instructions, but how hard can it be to use? I knew it couldn't ship[ with butane in it, so I purged the internal tank with a small screwdriver and filled it with butane. It fired right up on the first try. There is an on/off safety switch, a trigger, and small slider to regulate the flow butane. That's it. Simple. I pull the trigger. It produces a flame. It's not designed to be carried in a pocket. It's got enough weight to keep it where you put it in a decent wind. It it windproof? Not sure. There's actually a small gap between the base lighter and tube which leads to the orifice/sparker unit. When I lit the lighter, I could extinguish it if I blew into this gap, so we'll have to see. It's a decent lighter and I'll keep it. I might come across an aluminum can needing to be melted.

A beast
This is a serious torch with a huge flame. Substantial and sturdy and easy to use. Almost too big of a flame to light a bowl but it works if turned way down. Better for camping or shop use. I really like it and would buy it again

Nice torch!
I use this torch to get my fireplace started, it leaks a little bit when you fill it but I don't mind, it holds so much butane that you can feel that it is full, the raging blaze that comes out of this thing was quite surprising but it gets things burning fast, I will be ordering another one just to have a spare.

A little quirky, but ok once you figure it out
This torch is solidly built and looks nice. But it has a few quirks that make it dangerous to use until you figure them out.First, follow the included instructions closely for best results.1.) Only use butane cans with a long filler stem. Even with the proper can, filling the device was messy because fuel leaked while filling, and I still don't know if it's full, because there's no gauge or window.2.) You have to bleed out all the air by pressing the filler valve with a screwdriver before filling the first time.3.) The first time you light it, the flame and gas flow are very irregular, varying from a nice 2-3" blue flame to an 18" yellow super-torch (very dangerous). This was with the flame setting set at the lowest level as indicated in the instructions. It sputtered a lot at first too. There are videos of the super torch effect from another reviewer on here.I had decided to send it back when this happened to me and processed a return with Amazon. Then I ran the torch for a few minutes to try to bleed off the butane before packing it up to send back, and the flame stabilized. So for whatever reason you have to run it for a few minutes the first time…maybe to bleed out the air? After that it worked well and produced a very consistent and nice flame that was easily adjusted by the slider switch.I tried refilling it again, and had a little bit of the sputtering when I first lit it after refilling, but nowhere near as bad as the first time.Because there’s no fuel gauge or window, you never know when you’re going to run out so keep your butane refill can nearby if you can. Otherwise, once you figure out the quirks, it’s not a bad product.Probably 3.5 stars, but went with 3 because of the quirks.

Works as advertised
I bought this lighter along with two others to try out. I want one for emergency or just in case I need a flame for any reason. I can tell you this lighter is more like a torch. On the high setting it shoots a flame out six inches. It's very large, when you think in terms of a " lighter" and fits well in your hand, however it would be obtuse for say your pants pocket. I like everything about it. The lock works well. The flame Adjuster also. Like all butane lighters you have to know how to fill them, bit when it's got fuel it roars. The only con I have about it is I'd like to see them add a fill window so you know for sure it was full or getting near empty and time to refill. The price is reasonable and I can say you can't go wrong with it.
