Q: Can I run this off of a 12v battery?

From the user manual: Some users may prefer using an external 12V sealed lead acid battery. When using such a battery, make sure that you select battery type “NiMH” within the Shockwave parameter menu. Please view page 16 for locating the appropriate setting in the menu. 8

Q: does it automatically turn off after 30 minutes?

It does not turn off automatically.

Q: Is this loud enough for Snow Geese?

I doubt it would be. Foxpro makes a snow geese setup that is unreal.
