Q: The description says it has a rechargeable battery but also says it requires batteries. Which is it?

The rechargeable batter is garbage. I read reviews that said it fried instantly, and mine did. Nevertheless, a full set of C Batteries, will last a very long time. Ours lasted a whole year, using it during 5 or 6 events, with several hours of usage each time. However, it doesn't really turn off...so, if you want the C batteries to last, you need to undo the latch. It has some sort of a power saver mode that kicks in after a period of non-usage, however, it still drains the batteries quick if you don't unlatch it when you know it will be setting for awhile. Overall, I love the megaphone, but would chose a different brand based on these weird issues.

Q: Does it have a volume control?

Yes there is a volume control included on the side of the handset.

Q: The "o" ring is brittle and broken where can I get a replacement?

You might try a hardware store. I got a o ring for a cup I had at Lowe's.
