Q: What are the interior dimensions? Can I fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood on here?

I am just using the metal rack by itself but a 4 by 8 sheet should fit. If not, you would just need to trim an edge. Shouldn't be difficult with the right tool.

Q: How can I mount this on joists that are on 20" centers?

The holes are spaced for joists at almost any distance. My joists were not every 20" and it has been hanging for almost a year with no issues. It is worth the time and effort to put it up.

Q: Can a ceiling bracket be mounted in two spots one joist?

Yes that is how I have mine. I have 8ft rack and 3 brackets are in one joist 4 ft apart

Q: Can I shorten the height to 12”?

HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE (in the description it reads) The height can be adjusted from 22” – 40”, providing a convenient and safe place to store your stuff. My personal opinion is, With some modifications to the hanging mounts you might be able to. I'm not sure what that will do to the warranty. Get the Amazon installation (it's worth it) and the professionals might be able to help.
