The Tiffen 49mm Pro-Mist 1/4 Diffusion Camera Filter is designed to reduce highlights and lower contrast, creating a soft quality of light that enhances your images. With its Color-Core technology, this filter softens wrinkles and blemishes, making it an essential tool for professional photographers seeking to elevate their work.

The legit filter for projects!
I love the look of this, it gives the nostalgic feel to your footage. Definitely recommend, I normally wouldn't buy it from a different party but this was legit and came with the case and everything.

It really works, but sometimes only subtly
The Pro Mist 1/4" filter takes the hard and sharpened edges in your video or photo and makes it oh so slightly dreamy. From what I understand it is not as intense as the Black Pro Mist sister filter. Anyways, the Pro Mist 1/4" filter beautifully blooms light sources, and gives subjects a cinematographic feel.

Softens skin, adds light bloom to highlights. PRO MIST, NOT SAME AS BLACK PRO MIST
Got this to bloom highlights, aka a halation filter. I don't think the BPM does this as well. And it's different from the diffusion effect in software. Can't beat the in camera effect!

Just buy it, It won't disappoint.
I looked at a lot of youtube reviews and did a lot of research.I wasn't sure of the filter, but once I bought it and used it I couldn't go back

Old School Diffusion
This is my favorite diffusion filter. This regular pro mist 1/4 grade is just subtle enough to bloom the highlights in the image and produce a crisp vintage look. 1/2 starts to look like 80's prom portraits, and heavier grades like 1-3 create a thick, foggy, fantasy look. Unlike the black pro mists, the regular pro mists do not lift the blacks; they are not low contrast filters. Use this filter if you want your images to have a natural looking glow without seeming foggy or losing focus.

Awesome!
Creamy footage, the 1/4 Pro Mist makes my BMPCC look like a mini Alexa, couldn't recommend this more!!!

Not a black pro-mist
Bought the wrong filter meant to buy a black pro-mist but it gets the job done for now

The movie standard!
One of the first of the modern diffusion filters, developed in the 80s I think. The lower strengths like this one are beautiful. They get too 'foggy' for my taste at #1 and higher.

Excellent!
If you want to buy just one filter and wondering whether you should get the 1/8 or this one, i would say this is the one. 1/8 can be too subtle, in a way that in some situations you barely even notice it's there (maybe that's what you're going for). This is not the case with the 1/4, you get the stylized look in a very balanced way, without overpowering the image.Pro-mist vs Black mist, they have basically the same effect, but if you're shooting movies and using a LOG profile i would suggest this one (regular pro-mist). The black pro-mist reduces contrast even further which in my opinion can be a bit too much for LOG footage. It also cuts light because of the black particles in it, so again, i would suggest the Pro-Mist. If you're shooting in more contrasty image styles then you probably should get the black pro-mist (same applies for photography).

Love it
Magic filter! I was really skeptical, have seen it on YT and was actually expecting that I need to send it back (like so often with these honest influencer :)Anyway, I love that filter, ought a second one and it’s now 90% of the time attached to my GH5, the filter makes the GH5 footage a bit softer, which I pretty much like, when you use it for night shots it hides a bit the poor low light performance of the GH5 by applying a glow effect to all light sources. Very nice!

77mm 1/4 - Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.
I would submit pictures, but they don't really prove anything. I haven't done anything other than test photos, and photos of the case.I can't verify whether I got a used filter or not, all though it seems likely. The case it came in wasn't sealed. The filter appeared to be used, due to dust particles on the surface, however that could possibly be caused due to the case not being sealed. As far as quality goes, there was no damage on the glass itself (as far as scratches etc), but does appear to have been used prior to me getting it. The case was really scratched up, but the condition of the case doesn't really impede on my interests, nor does it really prove anything. The following is in no way meant to be critique about the abilities of the filter, or the condition of the one I got. More so my first experience with it.What I first noticed was (this is more than likely due to me, or conditions, not the filter) that I don't appear to get as much halo around light as others have gotten, I'm using an 85mm prime, 1.4. And I'm shooting at 1.4. I haven't really gotten to take any serious photos yet, so I can't say anything concrete about the effect, but I like what I'm seeing so far. It wasn't the dream gallore I was hoping for, but perhaps a happy medium. The conditions I tried it in as of writing this, was harsh sunlight, and a dark room with LED light in various colors.
