Terrific lens, and surprisingly decent quality filters
I really wanted this EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens for a while, but I couldn't bring myself to make the jump. When I saw this lens bundle though, I decided to bite the bullet and get it. What did it for me was the filter kit. I honestly was skeptical since it was from Polaroid (instead of from a more well-known filter brand like B+W, Tiffen or Hoya), but am quite pleased with them. The circular polarizing filter works much better than the one I bought from Amazon basics. The UV filter is not very thick, so trying to grasp it by the edges without getting fingerprints on the very edge of the glass is a bit difficult, but that's more of me being critical than a design flaw. I haven't tested it in bright sunlight yet, so I can't comment on whether it contributes to increased flare or reflections. Contrary to previous comments, the pouch is perfectly sized for the lens. It's not too tight, and closes completely around the lens when you pull the drawstrings. I could have done without the cleaning kit and lens cap strap, though the lens cleaning paper is nice to have, as opposed to a microfiber cloth. Now, the lens itself is higher quality than I expected. Even though it's Canon's cheapest lens, it doesn't feel cheaply made. It has decent heft in the hand, and the metal mount is a very nice touch. The focus ring rotates much more smoothly than the one on the EF-S 18-55mm STM kit lens, and doesn't feel like it's going to break off every time you touch it. The lens takes really beautiful pictures, with amazing bokeh; and using it in the evening indoors produces much better results than the smaller aperture kit lens. The focus is not as "silent" as Canon claims (or as quiet as the kit lens), but it focuses quickly in AF mode. Turning the focus ring quickly to manually focus causes a rather disconcerting zipper-like sound, but that is just the focus gears turning faster than they probably should. Overall, the raving reviews of this lens are definitely warranted.Disclaimer: I am NOT a professional photographer, nor have I used any of the Canon "L" series lenses (yet), so this is my rather amateur-ish opinion of this lens compared to the EF-S 18-55mm IS STM kit lens, the EF 75-300mm USM III telephoto, and my EF-S 55-250mm IS telephoto lens. I am using this lens on my EOS Rebel SL1, which makes for a very compact combo.

Can't beat the price
I was a little skeptic at first buying this bundle as a beginner because I know alot of beginning bundles are low quality. Well I couldn't be any more wrong with this 50mm. Once I got the feel and dialed it in, I've taken some spectacular low lighting photos including some live music gigs, where lights are crazy and movements are unpredictable. This lens has paid for itself many times since I began my photography venture.

Great lens for starters
The lens and the filters are fantastic. The cleaning kit that was sent with it ended up leaking rendering the entire kit useless. Obviously that's not anyone's fault being as how that was enclosed in it's plastic case so it was most likely a manufacturing issue. Great 1.8f fixed lens
Great fixed lens for my Canon XSi SLR. Easy to install and use. There's only a stabilizer switch and focus ring to adjust on the lens. It's very lightweight. The lens creates great photos that have the blurry effect in the background.

and I could not be more satisfied! As a novice
I purchased this lens as my first primary lens for my first DSLR (Canon 70D), and I could not be more satisfied! As a novice, the 50mm is the most versatile, user-friendly addition to your photography journey. This kit delivers in every way it claims. I haven't shot with the lens covers much, but I look forward to using them more in the future.
