I purchased these badge holders/retractable clips over a year ago, 15 months ago to be exact. I am a custodian in a college dorm with many locked doors and security key box that require key card swiping for entry. I go in and out of these doors over and over. The first retractable clip just broke today and it was actually the piece that attaches to the badge holder. The rest of the clip works fine but because I'm not able to trust the attachment to the id/key card that has access to every door, I need to replace. I replaced the first clear plastic badge holder a while ago with the second one but it lasted at least 6 months in very wet conditions (cleaning showers) with chemicals thrown in the mix. I pull on and retract the id/key card for entry numerous times all day long, it gets caught on furniture, counters, equipment, etc. and snaps back and has lasted this long. The thing has been practically indestructible for what I would consider a reasonable time for the price and the abuse it's been subjected to. Gladly buying again.

It's a reliable and functional accessory for daily use. It securely holds my ID card and keeps it easily accessible. The material is durable and has held up well to daily wear and tear.My only critique is the clip on top. While it's sturdy, it's quite large and not very aesthetically pleasing. It stands out more than I'd like, especially when wearing professional attire.Despite this minor issue, the badge holder serves its purpose well and is a solid choice for anyone needing a dependable ID holder.

I really wasn't expecting anything as nice as this at all! They are nice and solid, feel very well put together, and the retracting cord & the mechanism are super strong. I absolutely love that it has both a carabiner-type clip and a regular clip on the back for like a shirt pocket or lapel. Not to mention, the locking pouch for the actual badge itself completely seals and that whole entire part is water proof - which is GREAT because I bought these for my friends and I to put our (cardboard) chairlift passes in it.The only minor concern is that the retracting mechanism is so strong, that if you let it whip back into place after pulling it out, it will split the plastic piece apart at the button where it attaches to the badge holder. Not a big enough deal to me to subtract a star, but I will probably use the key ring part on the badge holder just in case. Or, you know, don't let it whip violently back into place in the first place lol.

Got this for my husband. He says it feels sturdy. He needed something simple and working in a prison it needs to be approved.

For the most part I am not using these for the intended purpose for badges. I did grab one when I had a badge for several day event and I preferred it to the pin in a badge that was sent to me. I bought them to help me have small camping and hiking gear things handy where I use them. A tick remover which I keep losing and replacing. A small knife. A small flashlight. A whistle. A glasses cloth. They are great for my purpose. I’m not too fond of the shiny chrome during the day in bright sun but it is helpful at night. So far they seem to be durable.

I bought a multipack of these badge holders for work thinking I would need to replace mine every now and then, as there are secured doors everywhere at work. I’m still on the first and my fob is retracted about 25 times a day. These were a great purchase and well worth the price. They are very smooth, no snags or hesitation while being very lightweight. I prefer the belt loop clip but when I don’t have a belt loop to clip- these also have a waistband clip. Can’t go wrong with these.
