Great for dipping your toe into the Magic waters!
I started playing Magic WAY back, around Beta timeframe. Then I sold all my cards because I was a teenager and too cool for stuff like that anymore. I've been kicking myself for that for the better part of 20 years now. Just before we all started staying at home, I had a friend invite me to a game night he's a part of, and I realized how much I really enjoy this game. I picked up this + a deckbuilder's kit as a way to kick-off my collection again. The decks this product gives are solid introduction decks. There's a couple shiny foils to make you feel fancy, a couple great utility cards that will end up in future decks, and are overall well balanced, well constructed decks. The learn-to-play guides are especially great as part of this: they're not going to make you a master-level player in 6 pages, but there's turn-by-turn directions for the first few turns on each side, so two people can learn to play together. You can literally have two people who have never played Magic before sit down at a table, open this pack, and play a full game with no outside help.If you've been playing for a while and already have a collection going, this isn't going to blow you away. It's not a bad pickup, especially if you're trying to jumpstart an angels deck. If you know how to play and construct decks however, you can build a much stronger deck for about the same cost as these two will run you. These are specifically made for new players, and they fill that role really well. For the decks themselves, the white deck is angels/flyers, and the red is dragons/burn spells. I find the white deck to generally be stronger, or at least much more consistent than the red, but they're more or less evenly matched, especially with two new players piloting them. I've upgraded the white deck with a few cards I've picked up recently, and it's become one of the stronger decks I own.Overall, if you're looking to start (or restart) playing Magic, this is a really fantastic way to jump in and learn!

Great deck for beginners with notes for the younger crowd
Got this for my son who's just beginning. The decks are pretty good and each come with a legendary creature as well as several rare cards. Definitely a great value at this price point. I know the age suggested is for 13+ for magic games, but my son is 10 and he picked up the mechanics of the game fairly quickly. Plus, I know that some of the art work in Magic the Gathering can be quite graphic but these cards are very tame. With the exemption of "Sure Strike" from the red deck, I would say all the illustrations are PG. "Sure Strike" might be PG-13? You can look it up online if you want to preview the worst card in both decks. Another solution is to just hand your child the white deck and keep the red in reserve for later, or you can replace "Sure Strike" with something else. (There are two copies in the deck.) Either way, I would definitely recommend this to beginners of any age curious about the game.

Great for beginners
My son recently was Interested in trying magic. Wanted something simple to start but also complete. Has two complete decks and walks you through your first game. Great price and a good starting point. Decks are not bad, a few cards that are collectible and a good cheap white and red lands option if you need. Otherwise this is recommended to any new player as a good starting point.

Holos are warped a bit and the code card didnt work but it expires on july 1 2020. It says it on the code card in real fine print.

Perfect for learning the game!
This is the perfect starter set! It has a guide that walks both players step by step, turn after turn to play the game. It walks you through all the basic moves you can make. My ADHD son learned this game very quickly and stayed focused throughout the game. I would highly recommend for beginners!

Great value!!
SCORE!!! I bought this set just to see what was in it and to add to my collection. After entering the cards I to manabox app, I was shocked to see that I got over $50 worth of cardsz not to mention the counters, for less than half the cost. Besides monetary value, my daughter and I played out the decks for their Introductory purpose and we had fun doing so, so I believe this is a great way to introduce yourself or others to the game of magic.

Worth it!
Actually, i am super happy with my decision! I spent 36$ on a black/red deck which turned out to be the opposite of the description, thankfully i also purchased this starter kit. The legendary creatures are cool, greatful for the enchantments and overall fun decks to play. Added some little tweaks and im set!

Arena code used
Decks are great for beginners, however the codes are already in use for these. If you plan to play online, they will not work.
