Stealth [Blu-ray]

I am happy with this movie!
I saw Stealth in 2005. When I saw this movie on sale on blu ray, I had to buy it! Although the front cover and the information on the back of the blu ray are in Spanish, the main menu on the blu ray is in English. This blu ray has audio and subtitles in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Thai. I live in the United States and this blu ray is Region A/B/C. This blu ray works fine on my blu ray disk player. I am happy with my purchase and I am happy with this movie!

I'm gonna buck the trend here...AWESOME MOVIE!!!
OK, first, a few words to Mr. Ex-8G000. Yes, it's apparent that you're in the military, and we all (I hope) applaud your service. I was never in the military, but I have great respect for it...and its missions, hint...hint. BUT...these are MOVIES...designed to entertain. I don't like what Hollywood does to the military anymore than you do, but what do you expect? I'm a big fan of Black Hawk Down and several of the other great war movies, but some of the military-based movies are just loosely-based on the military and aren't meant to be taken seriously.I am watching Stealth for the first time on DVD and I'm totally blown away by the special effects in this movie. This is the best damn CG I have ever seen. Probably on par with IL&M's work on Star Wars. From the sweeping aerial shots to the seemless panning to the cockpits while in flight, I'm just in awe in how they've captured these visuals on "film".So what's the plot? OK, let's be honest...this ain't Shakespeare, but com'on...we all know it wasn't meant to be. Stealth was meant to be an exciting popcorn flick that brings a mixture of Top Gun, Behind Enemy Lines, and Firefox into the 21st Century. Basically, we have have three hotshot pilots who fly three of the only existing Stealth planes known as "Talons"....only to be surprised by the existance of a new stealth plane that is totally automated. At first the new automated plane has a mind of its own after it's struck by lightning. But during one mission when the perverbial crap hit the fan, it actually comes to the rescue of the only surving Talon pilot in a dogfight against three Su-37 Russian fighters.OK, let's face it folks...today's audience is so demanding today in the digital film age that good special effects aren't enough to win over crowds. Granted, they shouldn't be the only thing, but imagine if this film was made back in the mid-eighties during the Iron Eagle and Top Gun days. It would have set a new standard in film making, and would have been praised for its visuals to this day. But because visuals of this quality are achieved daily in things as simple as TV commercials, we pan these kinds of films for being simplistic and plotless. Well, darn it, at this point who cares? There's always a time to just sit down and watch a good popcorn action flick such as this and enjoy it for what it is. I usually judge movies on the criteria if they entertain me. This movie thoroughly entertained me. I especially liked the fact that they actually use modern day international threats rather than some watered down "Neo-Nazi" threat *cough* "Sum of All Fears" *cough*.I give this movie 5 stars because of its awesome visuals and edge-of-your-seat intensity. Could this movie have used better character development and plot details, well yes, but it'd take a TV series based on this film for that.

Great pilot POV action movie
The real time action & CG visuals capture the feeling of what it must be like to be an elite pilot flying high tech planes on very dangerous missions. It was gratifying to also get educated about the politics and death oriented idiocy of war & collateral damage which is a nightmare I hope the human race wakes up from. Of special note is the sequence of Jessica Biel ejecting from her damaged jet and surviving the descent to the ground & escaping capture in enemy territory. The 2 disc Special Edition has excellent behind the scenes special features on disc 2. The price I paid was low and entertainment value high. Too bad the politically correct love relationship between Jessica & her wingman Josh was not more interestingly erotic since the next mission might be their last. Sadly too much violence & destruction seems to drive this type of movie...and at the end the minister's eulogy for their fallen buddy mentions God as a protector for military actions and pilot safety with no mention of His commandment: Thou shalt not kill. Technically this is a brilliant special affects movie that underscores the fact that the human race still spiritually has a long way to go to reach enlightenment. Then again what does Love & Peace have to do with Hollyweird and the movie industries too often death oriented ambitious productions.

A Good Movie With Impressive Special Effects
If you're a special effects fan, then you're in for a treat with this film about a group of three ace pilots and their encounter with an unmanned super-special aircraft.Josh Lucas (Lt. Ben Gannon), Jessica Biel (Lt. Kara Wade), and Jamie Foxx (Lt. Harry Purcell) form an elite squadron of pilots flying "Talon" fighter-bombers. These planes are the most sophisticated in the world, and the three pilots were selected from a group of over 400 applicants. The three have become very close, and their techniques have become extremely refined.Captain George Cummings (Sam Shepard), the squadron's C.O., informs them that they will be getting a 4th plane in the squadron. The others assumed, naturally, that there would be a new pilot as well. However, it turns out that the group will be receiving a UCAV (unmanned combat ariel vehicle). In short, it is a pilotless aircraft that has its own brain, but is trained to respond to commands from the other members of the squadron. Immediately suspicious, the others accept this new plane with a great deal of hesitation. On their first mission together, the UCAV is struck by lightning. From then on, strange things begin to happen with the UCAV. It seems to develop a mind of its own. It now disobeys direct orders from the squadron pilots and finally flys off on its own "mission" against a facility deep inside Russia. Will the others be able to stop the rogue UCAV before it starts World War III?I found this movie to be very good, despite all of the negative press it received. I've always been a big fan of good special effects, and this movie excels in that department. Although the plot may be considered a rip-off of other similar movies such as "Top Gun" and Firefox", the aerial battles which comprise the majority of the film are very good. If you are a fan of good special effects, then you'll enjoy this film. Just keep in mind that the plot is pretty predictable.

For an effects heavy film the Blu-ray is terrible.
For an effects heavy film the Blu-ray is bad, lots of artifacting where the fast moving action is, other films like jaws, the terminator, T2, aliens, John wick have decent rendering but this just seemed a little poor, I've seen rips look better. I'm not going to comment on the film's storyline as to each his own, but I was entertained.

Very underatted movie.
Firstly, i can confirm that this works on UK players, as it works on mine.Regarding the movie itself, personally i love it. It's a shame they don't make more movies like this if i am honest..

Mediocre
A rehash of the 80's Clint Eastwood film Firefox without the terrible acting of Freddie Jones and the lousy effectsInfantile dialogue and characters who are no more than cyphersStill, watched on Blu-ray on a big HDTV it is worth watching - Once - Battleship it certainly isn't

This is not the 21st Century's Top Gun.
The Blu-ray disc s fine, the movie on the other hand is poor. At £2.50 it's just about what its' worth. It's all been done before and better. I only just stayed with it to the end. I think the SFX at the beginning of the film are poor. I liked Top Gun, this is not in the same league.
