A Great Charger
I've been using this charger for a year to recharge the eight AA batteries my Fenix TK45 uses. I use the Sanyo Eneloops and the Eveready rechargeables. I'm not concerned with the scientific data this charger provides, but it's there for those who are knowledgeable enough to appreciate it. I like the fact that I can just snap in the batteries, plug the unit in & walk away. If I don't use any of the settings, it automatically starts charging. I also like the way the unit & charger only get slightly warm during charging & it won't overcharge the batteries if I forget to remove them. It does take around three or four hours for a full charge, so I'm thinking about buying another charger for the other four batteries my flashlight holds.UPDATE - 6-19-14: I've been using this charger for three years. I finally decided it was worth buying another one so I can charge all eight batteries that my Fenix TK45 takes at the same time. I just charged four AA's & it works perfectly.

Bought two of these & love them
In the past like a lot of folks I'd by rechargeable batteries & charger at mnaybe Walgreens, home depot or whatever and never had any luck. Either the batteries wouldn't last that long or the charger would go out or both. But like anything in life experience is the best teacher. I have spent a lot of time the past few days researching batteries, chargers, proper way to charge & store batteries and wow...no wonder I wasn't having any success in the past. I bought 2 of these chargers & Tenergy LSD batteries and love them both. I really like the options and selectivity settings that are available with this charger. Now in order to charge batteries correctly there are certain steps that have to happen and those steps among other things...takes time to charge batteries properly. That info is on the web and is a whole different story. But this charger delivers those steps. Unit has a easy to read digital display, about a 6' charging cord, and NO..it doesn't over heat or get hot as some older reviews recorded. I appears that this newer model has resolved those old problems. The display DOES remain lit during charging but who cares. I run these units off a solar generator in my closet so I don't see the display at night and the power is free. If there was anything I would like to see changed, it would be I wish they had an 8 bay unit in this style. But the way I dealt with that concern is to also purchase a Maha Powerex MH-C808M 8 Cell Multi-Charger for AA/AAA/C/D. Both of these units and Tenergy batteries has provided me now a serious battery backup plan for all my needs. Very happy.

Great charger, lots of features
This thing can be a little intimidating at first... there are a lot of features, not all of which are well-explained in the manual (fortunately, there is a lot of discussion of this charger on various forums so getting information on all the things it does is not a problem). The nice thing is that it still works well as a "dumb" charger... stick the batteries in, don't push any buttons, it'll analyze each battery and start charging it (and if the battery is no good, it'll let you know, unlike cheap chargers). Also, this charger will not harm your batteries if you leave them in for long periods after charging (most chargers claim this, but it's not always the case). I can't really think of anything that I don't like about the charger, I've had it for about 18 months now and I'm still completely satisfied. When I first got it, I used to to analyze and recondition all my old Ni-MH batteries of various brands (about five dozen I think) to eliminate all the marginal ones. I've since retired all but a few remaining good ones and have pretty much switched over to Eneloops, which, along with this charger, have pretty much eliminated all my battery-related headaches. OK, I guess if I had to nit-pick, there's one thing that might be bothersome... the backlighting on the information screen is bright enough to use as an airport runway landing beacon. I recommend using this to your advantage by mounting the charger someplace where you need a nightlight, then it can do double duty.

Well worth it!
Rather than repeat what other reviewers have been saying. Just going to say that I am very happy with this product. There is one thing I was concerned about which is the blacklighting. When I first plugged it in I was expecting a nice bright light to blind me. Nope. Nothing happened. So when I put in the first battery it started to light up and then proceed to ask me questions on how to charge the battery. I am happy about that part. Very easy process to go through.Since I got it today it's still charging the first set of batteries so what I am hoping that once it's done charging the blacklight on the LCD unit will shut off. If it doesn't and does when I take the batteries out then no big deal. I think a very small piece of black paper with scotch tape on one side will do the trick since I plan on keeping it in my bedroom.Programming the unit for each battery isn't that tiresome as others have lead you to believe. It's really not. It actually makes sense since I have a mix of different batteries so rather than let it use the same program for all batteries I personalize for each battery. It actually puts me in control on how to get the most out of the batteries. You can, however, choose not to program anything and it will charge the batteries using the default settings which may be fine for most situtations. Least you know it's there if you need to fine tune the charging process.Only con I would say is only four slots instead of eight. Other than that this thing will last me for years. Very solid construction.UPDATE: The backlight do stay on when there are batteries in the unit. Again not a big deal though.

the best aa and aaa charger I've ever used.
Don't be intimidated by the precision features, as long as your close, this charger will be just fine for your batteries. The default works well. I have batteries over ten years some were revived. You can charge as simple or complex as you wish. Wish I would have purchased this one first.
